Full Time Labourer

Countywide Concrete is seeking a self-starter and motivated individual to join our team as a full time employee.
 

     Responsibilities:
 

  • Mixing Concrete: Assist in the preparation of concrete by mixing cement, sand, gravel, and water according to specified ratios. This may involve operating concrete mixers or hand tools for smaller batches.

  • Pouring and Finishing: Help with pouring concrete into forms or molds, spreading it evenly, and leveling it using shovels, rakes, and screeds. Assist in finishing concrete surfaces by smoothing, edging, and applying textures or patterns as required.

  • Formwork Assembly: Assist in the setup and removal of forms or molds used to contain poured concrete. This may involve carrying, positioning, and securing formwork materials such as lumber, plywood, or metal.

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep the work area clean and organized by removing debris, excess concrete, and tools. Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment such as mixers, trowels, and saws.

  • Material Handling: Help in transporting materials and supplies to and from the work site using wheelbarrows, forklifts, or other equipment. This includes loading and unloading trucks and ensuring proper storage of materials.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents and injuries. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats as required.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including concrete finishers, carpenters, and supervisors, to accomplish project goals efficiently and effectively. Follow instructions and communicate effectively within the team.

  • Adaptability: Be prepared to perform a variety of tasks as required by the project, including assisting in concrete demolition, repair work, and cleanup activities. Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills are essential.

    Qualifications:
     

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Prior experience in construction or concrete work is an asset but not always required.

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.

  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools used in concrete construction.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.

  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills on the job.
